The public sector Medical colleges in Sindh require all candidates to appear in an admission test called the Medical Colleges Admission Test (MCAT). This test is usually held in September / October. Aga Khan University Medical College  was established in 1983 and enrolls students in a five-year program leading to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. It has to date conferred 1,370 degrees.
